Lou Parrague is CEO of Capture Technologies Inc., an Oakland company serving the security needs of clients from Kaiser Permanente to Bank of America and BART. The 60-year-old company, once known as US Audio, has grown briskly under Parrague’s leadership and in a more security-conscious post-9/11 world.

What’s the biggest security concern your new clients have at first? Improper access. Our clients want to secure vital data and assets. Are you who you say you are? We create authentication, using picture IDs, passwords and bio­metric components like fingerprints and eye scans.

What’s your fastest-growing service this year and why? Secure identification and emergency preparedness. When an emergency occurs, you have to track all your assets. You might have someone who’s an explosives expert, a physician or a bulldozer or stonecutter. With asset tracking, you know who and what you have available. Businesses need to prepare continuity plans. How will you continue to operate in an emergency?

What surprises you? This may sound funny, but I’m surprised by how immersed our employees can be in their work and how much they care for our clients.
